Family Fun Session

Kimberly came to be as a referral from a friend. Can I just say that referrals make my day? Anyway, she made it clear from the beginning that she wanted something a little bit different, not too stiff or posed. She wanted something that was more of a reflection of her family. Later she even told me that she would have been happy if someone was crying. Ha! Of course, I was totally game. I'll admit, the posed stuff is easier, but it also makes it easier to get into a rut. All photographers experience that feeling sometimes and we all need a little push to expand our creativity and get out of the safe zone. I had been kind of feeling that way lately. Fall is busy and burnout abundant, so this family was a refreshing change of pace.

I had a great time watching them interact and loved the opportunity to get to know them a little bit. They seemed to have a genuine bond and love for each other. The kiddos had a ton of energy (what kid doesn't/) and Gavin (aka Dad) was a great help when it came to eliciting laughs and smiles from the kids. When I left they were playing together by the pond.

I love people who are fun and open to different possibilities. Most of my clients are in different ways and I am grateful for each and every one of them and their unique personalities, styles and vision. They push me to new levels and I learn so much from each of them. We all need a little guidance, even these guys, and I am happy to provide it to my clients on whatever level is necessary. This session just happened to give me the opportunity to be a bit more free and let my hair down if you will.
